Skilled migration programs are designed to attract people whose technical, trade or professional skills will contribute to South Australia’s economic growth and development.

The following is a list of skilled migration programs that the South Australian Government participates in. They have been jointly developed by the Commonwealth and State Government to assist employers to meet their requirement for skilled labor.

Advantages for employers include:

  • Quicker, personalised processing
  • No cost to the employer
  • Streamlined labour market testing
  • Allows people over 45 who have exceptional levels of expertise, skills and experience to be sponsored
  • The sponsored employee is committed to the employer for 2 years. Visa cancellation may occur if the employee leaves prior to 2 years without the employer’s consent.

SA is currently the largest user of RSMS within Australia. Adelaide is one of the only two mainland capital cities eligible for this visa.

SKILL MATCHING

If applicants meet DIAC’s basic criteria on Age, Occupation and English language, they can have information about their skills and qualifications circulated to State/Territory Governments and SA employers via the Skill Matching Database. This database enables employers and recruitment agencies to view the resumes of thousands of overseas skilled workers and match them with skilled job vacancies.

A summary version of the skill matching database can be viewed on DIAC’s website.
