The State of South Australia welcomes all migrants and would like to encourage more people to make our State their home and enjoy the enriching lifestyle we have to offer.

Immigration SA has developed a unique program called On Arrival Services to help skilled independent migrants settle in our State. Further information on this service can be found below.

Please note that if you choose to settle in any other State other than South Australia we are unable to provide these services to you.

On Arrival Accomodation

The On Arrival Accommodation service offers temporary accommodation to independent skilled migrants wishing to settle permanently in South Australia.

This unique service is provided on a once-only basis when you arrive in Adelaide and can be organised prior to your arrival in South Australia.

Meet And Greet Service

The Meet and Greet Service is a volunteer service that welcomes skilled independent migrants to South Australia.

This unique service, provided by the Government of South Australia, is designed to help you settle quickly into your new home.

The free service is performed by volunteers from various cultural and professional backgrounds, many of whom have been migrants themselves and are sensitive to the needs of new arrivals.

Migrant Employment Consultancy Scheme (MECS)

The Migrant Employment Consultancy Service (MECS) helps you seek employment when you arrive in South Australia.

It equips you with the additional skills you need in preparation to work in Australia.

Organised and managed by Interlink, at the Adelaide Institute of Tertiary and Further Education (TAFE), it provides one-to-one consulting so you are fully supported in finding suitable employment.

Overseas Qualifications Service

The Overseas Qualifications Service enables you to compare your academic or technical qualification to educational standards in South Australia.

Offered by the Government of South Australia, the comparative assessments are based on guidelines developed by the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (NOOSR).

An assessment will give potential employers information on how your qualifications corresponds to Australian educational qualifications, and provides an indication of the general academic comparability of a particular field of study.

Settlement Orientation Service (SOS)

The Settlement Orientation Service (SOS) provides settlement information to all newly arrived migrants to South Australia.

The free service is delivered by Adelaide Institute of TAFE English Language Services (ELS), as part of the Information & Employment Service (IES).
