To qualify for migration under the General Skilled Migration Program, you must meet not only the Sponsorship criteria set out by the State Government of South Australia, but also meet all the visa criteria set out by the Commonwealth Department of Immigration and Citizenship “DIAC”. You should visit the DIAC website (http://www.immi.gov.au) to assess your eligibility to meet the criteria for migration before you seek sponsorship. Immigration SA is the State Government agency which is responsible for State Sponsorship. Please read all the information about the Sponsorship criteria outlined in the Fact Sheets on the Immigration SA website before you proceed. Once you are sure that you meet all the Sponsorship criteria, and if you wish to apply for Sponsorship for either the Permanent Visa (subclasses 176/886/134) or the Provisional Visa (subclasses 475/487), you may apply via the on-line application process on this website. You will also be instructed to send hard copy documents to support your on-line application. The Application Cover Sheets (2 pages) with the main applicant’s details will be generated from this system when you complete the application form online. You must use this to send the supporting documentation to Immigration SA to complete your application. When you have submitted the application electronically and have collated all the necessary documents, POST OR COURIER the Application Cover Sheets together with all the supporting documents to Immigration SA. Your application will remain on Immigration SA database for two months from the date of submitting this application electronically. If all your supporting documents are not received by Immigration SA within this time frame, your on-line application may be deleted from the database and you will need to submit a new application. Email or faxed documents will not be accepted. Note that some documents will require to be certified by a Notary Public, Bank Official, or other appropriate officer. Processing of your application will only commence when the on-line application has been submitted electronically to Immigration SA AND all the supporting documentation has been received by Immigration SA. Current processing time is within 4 weeks from the time all the documents are received at Immigration SA. Please do not contact Immigration SA before that time as it may delay processing. You can track the progress of your application by using the Immigration SA website via the client Tracking System. Immigration SA will make every effort to process your application efficiently. The main applicant (or if instructed, their agent) will be contacted with the outcome of the decision within four weeks of receiving the completed Application Cover Sheets and all supporting documents. There is no fee/charge for processing Sponsorship applications by Immigration SA. All information must be provided in English or a certified English translation or the application will not be processed. Sponsorship approvals from Immigration SA are valid for six months and are not transferable to any other State or Territory.
